"My father died two months after I entered the army in 1956. My Signal Corp unit was sent to Camp Desert Rock, Nevada to cover the atmospheric atomic bomb tests in 1957. While there, I started writing letters to my dad, which was probably my way of coping with losing him. Letters From Under the Mushroom Cloud is a collection of those letters. I am now seventy-four years old. I still write letters to my father, and I always will."—Ray Hoy

Ray Hoy owns The Fiction Works, but he has also been a professional writer for 50 years. He is one of the dwindling number of so-called "Atomic Soldiers" who provided support for the above ground nuclear bomb tests at Camp Desert Rock, NV in the 50s. While there he witnessed numerous above ground "shots" and, unlike thousands of his fellow soldiers, has lived to tell about it. Letters From Under the Mushroom Cloud is his latest book, and it is a labor of love.
